Jesus christ the super star

MUSON Festival 2015 is just around the corner. From all indications, it promises to be another exciting series of performances all week beginning from October 14. The musical, Jesus Christ Super Star by the PlayHouse Initiative holds the centre stage this year.
Established in 2007, the PlayHouse Initiative is a non-profit organisation that mentors the youths through music and drama. Under the watch of Uche and Winifred Nwokedi, the organisation has fast become a leading organisation in Nigerian musical theatre, producing several musicals at the Agip Recital Hall, including “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, “The Vision” as well as the award-winning “Kakadu the Musical”.

The musical “Jesus Christ Super Star” was first performed in 2006 by arrangement with the Really Useful Group UK and staged at the Agip Recital Hall. The drama returns on stage on Friday, October 16 and Saturday October 17.
The playwright, Uche Nwokedi SAN is glad that this drama is considered as part of the productions lined up for the festival.
“It is also an opportunity for us to thank MUSON for providing the venue for the development of the arts. There are many more shows that happen here outside the classical music. It is a pleasure for us to be invited to perform here,” he said.

As usual, works of the fresh graduates of the MUSON School of Music will be featured along with the masters of classical music. The performances begin on Wednesday, October 14 with the Youth Concert which is a Grand Finale of the MusiQuest. It features seven finalists. This will be followed by an interactive session on Thursday October 15 with the theme, “My Kind of Music”.
